Our beloved Nancy Amicangelo passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7th after a decades long battle with breast cancer.
She enjoyed a 40-year career in business and finance moving from Boston to Chicago in 1990. However, it is her concern for others that identified Nancy as the special person she was. After her own diagnosis she became deeply involved in the breast cancer cause and in supporting at-risk children. Her volunteerism began with Y-Me in 1993 and then she became an integral part of A Silver Lining Foundation for the past 13 years, serving as a member of the Board of Directors and in other roles too numerous to mention. She had also been a member of the Leader Council of Mercy Home for Boys and Girls. Our Nancy focused on those most vulnerable given the circumstances of their lives.
She is survived by her long-time partner, Robin Koskinen, her mother, Mary, six siblings and their spouses and significant others, 12 nieces and nephews, 18 grand nieces and nephews, and four grandchildren – all of whom she loved dearly.
She is also survived by countless friends and associates and by her heartbroken family at A Silver Lining Foundation. Services will be held in Boston at a date to be announced and there will also be a Memorial Mass in Chicago at a date to be announced.
Per Nancy’s wishes donations would be appreciated to A Silver Lining Foundation 134 N. LaSalle St., Suite 2050, Chicago IL 60602 or online where The Nancy Amicangelo Memorial Fund has been established or to Mercyhome.org.
