Garrett Popcorn Shops(r) and Their Loyal Fans Raised $15,000 to Benefit A Silver Lining Foundation as they "Join the Fight" Against Breast Cancer

CHICAGO (November 2013) -Garrett Popcorn Shops(r) proudly presented a check for $15,000 to Chicago-based A Silver Lining Foundation(r) (ASLF), a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides access to cost-free mammograms and diagnostic follow ups. The donation is a result of Garrett(r) fans supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month by purchasing Signature Striped Pink Tins in October, with 10 percent of sales benefitting ASLF.

Thanks to the generosity of Garrett and their fans, a total of $39,000 in donations over the past three years have helped uninsured women receive the mammograms and diagnostic testing critical for early detection and breast cancer treatment through ASLF's Buy Mom a Mammogram program.

"311 lives have been eased and saved as a result of this program over three years," says ASLF founder and breast cancer survivor Dr. Sandy Goldberg. "Studies show that when one person is diagnosed with cancer, an average of 50 people are also personally impacted as a result. These important funds reverberate throughout the community as we work together to save one life at a time."

"Our entire Garrett family of colleagues and fans is proud to support ASLF in its mission to ensure dignified, respectful and equal access to quality cancer education and services for all," says Megan Chody, director of community relations for Garrett.

A Silver Lining Foundation works to ensure that socioeconomic status does not affect an individual's ability to obtain information, a timely cancer screening and diagnosis. The mission is to ensure dignified, respectful and equal access to quality cancer education and services for all, by creating meaningful partnerships with community, advocacy and healthcare organizations.
