US Health Task Force Proposes Screening Mammograms at Age 40 instead of 50

May 2023 – We at ASLF know the life-saving importance of early screening for breast cancer and were gratified to see last week’s proposal from the US Preventive Services Task Force that women start breast cancer screenings at age 40.

ASLF has long been a resource of last resort for women under age 50 in need of screening and diagnostic testing. In 2022, 51% of the women we served were under age 50 and of the 24 diagnoses last year, 30% were in women under age 50, including one woman aged 27.
