On April 3, 2012 A Silver Lining Foundation received a generous grant from the Washington Health Foundation. The grant will be used to fund the Keep aBreast teen program at A Silver Lining Foundation. Keep aBreast is a face to face, multimedia breast health presentation that includes a straightforward discussion between breast cancer survivors and young women. The goal is two-fold: to teach young women to become advocates for their own breast health and to raise awareness of the need for breast cancer screening to those who are uninsured or underinsured. Created in 2002 by NBC5’s Health and Nutrition Contributor Dr. Sandy Goldberg a breast cancer survivor, A Silver Lining Foundation’s mission is to provide dignified, respectful and equal access to quality breast cancer education and health care services for all, by creating meaningful partnerships with community, advocacy and healthcare organizations. Her concern and the vision of the foundation is to ensure that socioeconomic status never affects an individual's ability to obtain information, timely cancer screenings and/or diagnosis.
